Moving to Gerrards Cross: timings, removals and what removals teams do not unpack

Families moving to Gerrards Cross often have a fixed deadline behind the move: a school term, a return to work, or a chain that finally exchanged. The plan that protects those deadlines is the one that covers what happens after the van has gone.

Build the timeline backwards

  • Fix the date you need normal life to resume, then work back from it.
  • Book removals as early as you can, and confirm what their quote includes.
  • Book decluttering support before packing begins, not after.
  • Book unpacking for the day after the move, while the boxes are still labelled and stacked.

Completion day rarely runs to the hour

Keys often arrive later than planned, which pushes the unloading into the evening. That is manageable for the transport, because the removals team simply places the boxes. It is far harder on the household, because nobody wants to start unpacking a kitchen at nine at night.

What we do the next day

We unpack every room, set the kitchen up around how you cook, hang and organise wardrobes, put bathrooms and children's rooms together, and make the beds so it feels like home from the first night. Packaging and empty boxes are flattened, stacked and ready for collection. The detail is on our unpacking service page.

Getting the family settled

Children cope better when their own room is finished before the rest of the house. Keep familiar bedding, books and a few recognisable toys out of the removals van and with you, then let us set the room out before they arrive.
