Moving to Amersham and the Chilterns: a practical guide to a calmer moving day

Amersham moves often combine an old town property or a Chilterns village home with a family schedule that cannot pause. The aim is simple: get from a van full of boxes to a working home without losing a fortnight to cardboard.

Before the removals van

  • Confirm access, parking and loading distance with your removals firm.
  • Label every box with its destination room, on the top and two sides.
  • Keep a first night bag for each person, plus clean bedding and towels.
  • Edit what you own before packing, so you are not transporting things twice.

Expect the handover to move

Completion times slip. Plan for the possibility that the van unloads late, and decide in advance what genuinely has to happen that night. Usually that is beds, bathrooms and somewhere to make breakfast. Everything else can wait until the following morning.

The day after

Our team works through the whole house: kitchen cupboards and drawers organised around how you cook, wardrobes hung, bathrooms stocked, children's rooms finished and beds made. Empty boxes and packaging are stacked ready to collect, so you are not living around a wall of cardboard.

Period homes and village houses

Older Chilterns homes have their own storage quirks: awkward alcoves, shallow cupboards, cellars and attic rooms. We plan storage around the home you have, using stock products where they work and bespoke planning where they do not.
