Packing Tips
save time and money
- Start packing for your move as early as possible.
- Take inventory of what the movers will pack.
- Pack as much non-fragile, replaceable items on your own. It is best to leave heavy appliances, furniture, T.V.’s, mattresses, and larger items for the professional movers to pack.
- Always pack your important and valuable items such as jewelry, photo albums, collectables, passports, vital documents, antiques, etc. Never let the movers pack these items of importance. Take these items with you.
- Do not use masking tape. Use heavy duty clear plastic tape that is at least 2 inches wide.
- Utilize the space in the boxes but do not overstuff. Use towels, sheets, pillows, and comforters to help minimize movement of the contents en route. Wrap breakables carefully in bubble wrap or newspapers.
- Keep track of your boxes. Label and number your boxes. Keep a list of the number and the contents in each box for reference. Mark boxes with breakables as Fragile.
- In most moving estimates, the supplying of and packing of your boxes are not included unless otherwise specified or charged in the quote. If packing is not included in the moving estimate be sure to pack anything fragile yourself such as glass table tops, mirrors, paintings, china cabinets, marble tabletops etc. make sure it is pack securely with either bubble wrap, blankets, or comforters. If not the moving company will wrap it and additional charges may be incurred. If you think it should be packed securely, pack it!
- No hazardous materials can be pack or moved. Never pack flammables, explosives, or combustibles such as paint thinner, gasoline, propane, nail polish remover, paints, firearms, oils, aerosols, bleach, etc. Movers are not allowed to move anything flammable or explosive nature.
- Live animals, pets, and plants will not be transported by the movers.
